SEQUENCE 4: MAKING STREET SHAPE

The steps are:.... Give all streets and lanes their own width and shape 1. Take segments of street, one at a time. A segment can be anything from 50 feet to 300 feet long 2.  For each segment of street, give it a definite shape. This will impact on house lots and you will later modify the frontage line of each house lot to conform. 3.  Make the ends of the street clear, with definite end-points. 4.  Make a swelling in the middle 5.  Locate the rough positions of front doors 6.  Locate rough positions of stairs on individual lots, and make sure they are placed to help the street. 7.  Make the street narrow unless there is a specially good reason for it to be wide 8.  In narrow streets provide shade and comfort, with structures for shade
