HOUSE PLINTH       STEP 2:    SIZE AND EXTENT OF PLINTH

If the site is under 60 sq meters, the plinth shall cover the entire site except for perhaps a small service yard or garden behind the house. If the site is larger, the plinth will cover the whole front end of the lot. In human need and dignity, the plinth is more important than a plumbing core. The house will not be provided with a plumbing core at this time. However, the plinth will have a chase that will allow the family to add plumbing connections to the lines in the street when they want to do so. The plinth should be completed before any other decisions about the house are made, and before any other construction proceeds. it is the plinth which gives the family its integrity, its protection from dirt and water, its standing in the community, the base of the house, and the family's initial solid feeling which will last for ever.
