Patternlanguage.com is a community-based website dedicated to supporting all efforts to re-build the earth and care for it as a living structure.

Most web sites are financed by advertising. Patternlanguage.com is not. It is an association of members. We finance the site through the membership dues and our services.

Members can follow all our work in progress and have access to all tools and information on the site and participation in networks, bulletin boards and chat groups. If you like what you see on the site, please join us.

Professional membership is for builders, contractors, and architects who would would like to use our material and methodologies with their own clients and have information about their services available to our members. Information on this topic will come soon.

A Multiple User Domain: Our Bill of Rights

The patternlanguage.com web site is, in technical terms, a Multiple User Domain. We have a “ Bill of Rights.” When you join it does mean that you are agreeing with these rules of conduct.
  1. Privacy is protected. Personal information on community members is personal and never given out or used for commercial purposes.
  2. There will be no bombardment by billboards. The web site is not financed through advertising, but through community membership, sponsorships, and payable services offered by the site.
  3. Copyright. The information, images, and programming and all derivative work are copyrighted and protected. This copyright is respected by community members.
  4. Copyleft. Information, images, and programming are copyleft in that users are invited to participate, and their feedback is used for continual improvement and development.
  5. Childhood forever. Even after the core site has reached smooth cruising, there will always be new developments and tolerance for experimentation and learning.

Sponsorship

PatternLanguage Network and Foundation is the not-for-profit umbrella which is the basis for our community. Patternlanguage.com is a for-profit corporation and provides the tools, techniques, business organization needed to get the job done. We also engage in non-profit activities. Sponsorships help us develop tools for third world communities and for promoting public participation in land use and town planning. We have a special fund for these activities. Sponsors are acknowledged on the site for their contributions.
